Exercise for Longevity: It’s Not About Fitting Into the Skinny Jeans with Rhonda Trollman

February 7, 2019

We all know that we need to move our bodies and get to the gym, but it’s often the motivation (or lack thereof) that gets in the way.

I’ve always stood by the fact that if you’re going to improve your health, you have to have a deeper motivation than shedding a few pounds or fitting into those skinny jeans hanging out in the back of your closet.  (which, by the way, hanging on to clothes that don’t fit you will likely only harm your self esteem and keep you from making positive change, but I digress)

There’s no better person to talk to about this than my dear friend Rhonda Trollman!  Rhonda is a Certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, Precision Nutrition level 1 Certified Coach, and a Fellow of Applied Functional Science, and most recently certified to work with Breast Cancer Survivors, who has spent the past 10 years working one on one with people in a Physical Therapy environment.

Rhonda’s passion lies with helping people find ways to enjoy exercise and movement. Whether recovering from injuries or dealing with chronic pain such as arthritis, to overcoming exercise boredom or years of being sedentary, her goal is to assist people in finding the best program that works for them.

She has the pleasure of working with individuals in unique circumstances looking to increase their physical fitness at the most basic levels that many of us take for granted, and we dive deep into this topic on this episode, and Rhonda shares some incredible stories from some of her many clients.

What’s inside this episode:

  • Benefits of cardiovascular health and why poor cardio can be worse for us than smoking (this doesn’t have to mean running on a treadmill, by the way!)
  • Balancing cardio with strength training, and how to incorporate both at the same time
  • Mixing up your training to keep motivation high and actually enjoying your workouts
  • Starting small; don’t overwhelm yourself or your body
  • Building in accountability and momentum for success
  • Why this goes so far beyond weight loss

You’re going to leave this episode touched and incredibly inspired to start making the most of the amazing body you’ve been given, even if it’s to start in the smallest ways.
