I have to be honest here: the whole idea around “good vibes only” is bullshit.
There are all kinds of vibes, emotions and feelings, and all of them are perfectly acceptable. All vibes are welcome here, because sometimes life is messy and overwhelming, and when we feel as though we should be only feeling the “good vibes” all the time, it makes things a whole lot harder.
This is one of the topics I’m digging into with today’s incredible guest Melissa Pyne, MSW, RSW, Psychotherapist, Social Worker and Professional Coach .
With a Cognitive Behavioural framework and knowledge of positive psychology, Melissa brings a social-emotional intelligence to employee well being and its impact on culture at work. At Red Maple Professional Coaching, she enjoys helping leaders better understand how to leverage their strengths and address behaviours that limit their effectiveness through individual and small group coaching. In her own private practice, Melissa Pyne Counselling Services, she helps people work through their emotional distress beyond simply managing their symptoms to create a life they love.
There are so many nuggets and juicy topics in this episode, it’s a must listen! We chatted about:
- Digging into some of the various ways we numb ourselves from really feeling what we need to feel
- Some of the science behind how we isolate ourselves and why we’re lonely
- Success then happiness, vs. happiness then success
- The various ways we numb in our everyday life and hot to recognize and and how to handle it
- Becoming more present in our everyday lives
Tune in to learn more, and be sure to check out Melissa!
