How to Gain Respect

The deepest foundational layer of any relationship is respect. Respect means honouring someone’s most genuine self, despite imperfections or differences. Respect provides the base for which feelings of trust, safety and well-being grow upon.

But gaining someone’s respect can feel like a massive challenge. When we get caught in the trap of people pleasing and perfectionism, we’re not our authentic selves. We then compromise our values, boundaries and energy – all innate qualities that people ultimately respect in us, whether they like us or not.

In this episode, we’re talking about:

  • Why admitting your mistakes can benefit your relationships
  • The importance of honesty, integrity and constantly striving to be congruent
  • Why mastering your craft is an important element of respect
  • How to be your most genuine, authentic self
  • How to set better boundaries with yourself and others
  • How gaining respect starts with self respect
  • Why gaining respect is (in my opinion) even more important than gaining trust, and how the two are closely interwoven
